On May 2nd, the gorgeous Valleyview home was featured in the Kamloops Art Gallery's 'Home Tour'. An overwhelming positive response to the home and exterior landscaping features. Our team created the 50 foot pondless waterfall that dissappears into the patio pavers. The home is situated on the river, with the 50 foot stream is located on the east side in the back of the home. Attendees on the day of the event had a chance to actually 'Name the Waterfeature' with the final winning name yet to be picked by the homeowners. There were creative names such as 'Rivers Edge Creek', 'Seamless Serenity', 'Meandering Moment', 'Boulder Brook' and 'Lowe Falls' - all very fitting with this hand-sculpted feature. With over a couple hundred unique rocks, pebbles and boulders, Jason chose specific pieces of slate for the water to cascade in teirs as it drops along the distance. Hilary, the homeowner, worked with Jason one-on-one through the whole process. They both brought their own thoughts to the project transforming a huge piece of dirt to a trickling brook - which she can hear every morning from her open kitchen windows.
To make this feature over-the-top, they both decided to make the stream disappear under the patio as if the pond reappears on the west side of the home. This pond is situated closer to the river's edge. As you stand from any one of the indoor or outdoor patios, the pond looks like shimmering glass on a clear Kamloops day.
As Ground Sense also specializes in hardscapes, the team laid the 2200 sq ft (78,000 lbs) of beautiful 24 inch hydra-pressed patio pavers. They laid the pavers by hand surrounding a curvey kidney-shaped pool. Each slab hand-cut, where needed to mimic the exact curves of the pool. A perfect accent for a perfect home!
