Winter 2011 saw the prep-work for water meter installation, in areas of the city. With xeriscaping already being a popular landscaping feature, now there is a really good reason to add this to your yard.
Xeriscaping refers to reducing or eliminating the need for additional irrigation. You can choose many styles, colours and shapes of rock (ex. river rock, tan shale, lava rock), and add drought-tolerant plants such as grasses (ex. blue fescue, karl foerster reed grass) with drip-irrigation.
This combination will save water usage drastically compared to a grass yard.
